You know those non-linear movies?

The one where the plot jumps back and forth? I really like the movie the 500 Days of Summer for that very reason because you get to see before, during, and after the relationship of two people. Well, I think that is how this blog is going to be. I have a list of things that I want to blog about that have happened over the last year or so, but why would I post them in order of how they happened? That would make too much sense. So instead I will post them according to the memories I want to revisit. Or according to other less exciting variables like what pictures on my computer are the easiest to access.

The other night I had a dream. It was so vivid. I was at home in my parent's house with my sister and I were talking on her bed. She had come home from Ukraine but I was so confused because it was a year early. She came home after being out on a mission for only 6 months. I was so confused. But she was content, and happy, because she told me she "could speak Russian." I wanted to know why she had left, why she had come home early, but she would not tell me. This made sense to me because Aubrey doesn't EVER willingly tell me information. She is a very private person. Always has been ever since I told Brody Gregory that she liked him when she was 5. So I did not ask questions. Instead I decided to just be happy that my sister was home. I woke up from that dream and realized that it was the morning of my 25th birthday, and that my sister was still in Ukraine. I ached for her and wanted her to celebrate with me. She did write me an email, which helped a little bit with the sadness I felt when I realized that my dream was not real.

So tonight I want to blog about a time when I did get to hang out with my sister. I'll call it "San Diego part deux" (see previous post about San Diego).

The context for this trip. Aubrey was leaving for her mission in June, and we had to take a farewell trip, San Diego was the obvious choice. We left on Memorial Day weekend, invited some friends for the car ride, turned on the good tunes and never looked back.

The beach. We went for a jog.

Water and light. I can never get enough of these two things.

In San Diego you can't not talk about the food. We got pastrami from Gus'. It was the best pastrami outside of NYC according to a friend and I wouldn't doubt it. Rick always over estimated his appetite on this trip and bought twice as much food as he needed because he was so excited. It was very endearing and hilarious.

Another shot of the pastrami.

Mariscos yet again. Best ceviche known to man.

Girl's love.

Our friends let us crash at their place.  Tony and Chiapin. Remember them? Our honeymoon besties. Aubs and I were training for our half marathon and we needed to go on a run, so we went on a 6.7 mile run through the avocado orchards surrounding their house in Ramona, CA. So beautiful! And then we jumped in their pool after and drank coconut water. Best run ever.

The view from Tony and Chiapin's porch. See the orchards?

Don't you just want to be his friend? I know I did when I met him. And now we are friends for life!

This about sums up our relationship. Me being crazy and Shea just looking at me weird. Okay. Just joking. Shea is crazy too. Just in a mountain biking, ski jumping, stranger conversation starter sort of way. Me? I am more the silly type.

Artsy fartsy curtsey of Aubs.

The whole crew. It was the best trip. We had so much fun and laughed lots.
